There is a new first place team in the NEK league standings after Doniphan Co.‘s 2-0 victory over Falls City.
Falls City (16-6), who had been in first for most of the season, is now in second place behind Seneca (10-5), who has a slightly better league winning percentage with their 5-1 record , compared to Falls City‘s 7-2 league mark.
Doniphan Co. (12-6) is third in the league standings at 6-2.
The pitcher‘s duel between Doniphan Co.‘s Jerod Hawkins and Falls City‘s Trent Scheitel lasted only 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Hawkins struck out nine, walked none, and allowed just one hit.
Scheitel gave up two hits, struck out 12, and yielded the only runs of the game in the bottom of the first.
The loss snapped a three game win streak for Falls City, while Doniphan Co. has now won 7 of 8 and are 8-1 at home.
